Ifield Parish Map
Ewhurst Place
The current building dates to the late 16th century, but this moated site is believed to date back over 1000 years and is first documented in 1247 in a taxation document awarding the tithes of Ewerthe to Rusper Priory. The Parliamentarian troops sent to destroy Ifield Forge and Bewbush Furnace during the civil war are said to have been billeted in the upper rooms of Ewhurst Place. The site is a scheduled monument.
